Classic Town image as you’ve never seen it before

14 August 2014

Town fans are urged to show their #WallOfColour

A splash of colour has been added to a classic moment from Shrewsbury Town history by re-colouring the famous photo of Steve Biggins, Ian Atkins and Sammy Chapman celebrating against Aldershot in the 1979 FA Cup replay. The re-colouring has been provide by The Football League as part of the #WallOfColour campaign.

The new photo shows what a massive difference colour can make and comes as Town are calling on fans to create a #WallOfColour at the opening home league match of the season against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday 16th August.

Supporters are asked to wear amber and blue to inspire Liam Lawrence and the team to get the 2014/15 Sky Bet League 2 campaign off to the best possible start at home and then share their efforts on social media using #WallofColour.

Town's CEO Matt Williams is looking forward to seeing the Town fans #WallOfColour on Saturday:"The team has started the season in good form with a hard fought point at AFC Wimbledon and an excellent Capital One Cup win over Blackpool on Tuesday night.

"Micky has recognised the backing from the Town fans and the support they have already shown and to see a wall of amber and blue against Tranmere on Saturday would be excellent.

"This season is about Shrewsbury Town fighting back and the continued support of the Town fans will give Micky and the lads a real chance of achieving this."
