Callum nets another England call

Town keeper selected for matches against Croatia

Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Callum Burton has received another call up to the England under-18 squad for next week's double-header against Croatia.

It just keeps getting better and better for the 17-year-old who this week signed a two-year professional contract at the Greenhous Meadow before featuring for Town reserves in the 2-2 draw at Oldham in the First Development League yesterday.

Callum has two caps for England at under-18 level. He made his debut against Hungary earlier this season and then came off the bench against Belgium earlier this month. England won both matches 4-0.

Town Academy manager Steve Reece said: "This is excellent news for Callum. It tops off a very exciting and eventful week following him signing a professional contract with the club."

Callum was originally on the standby list for the Croatia games but has now been called into the squad and will meet up with his England team mates at St George's Park, the FA's national training centre at Burton, on Saturday.

Two international friendlies will then be played against Croatia next Monday and Wednesday evenings.
