Grandison happy at first team return

Jermaine pleased with reception and now wants to push onto fitness

Jermaine Grandison says it was great to be back after making his Shrewsbury Town comeback as a substitute against Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.

"It felt really good," said Grandison, who replaced Ryan Woods at right back for the final 15 minutes of the 2-0 defeat to cheers from the Greenhous Meadow.

"I got a really good reception when I was warming up and when I came on. It felt good to be on the pitch.

"It was a feeling of excitement when I was about to come on as I don't really get nervous.

"I was just really looking forward to getting back on the pitch and I was glad to get on for the last 15 minutes, but it wasn't the best result.

"It was a big game for us and three points would have been good but what's happened has happened now and we've just got to concentrate on the next game and hopefully get the three points."

Grandison added he felt slight discomfort with his hips in his first competitive senior appearance since April but hopes to still be able to be involved with the squad for Saturday's trip to MK Dons.

"I felt my hips a little bit so I've just got to see how they settle down now over the next few days," he said. "That was quite disappointing for me but it is what it is.

"I've just got to make sure I get myself right, get myself fit and get back in."
