Great response to celebration before Orient game

The club wish to thank everyone who joined in with the celebration of Shrewsbury Town's past players, staff and supporters who sadly passed away during 2013 which was held at Tuesday's home match against Leyton Orient.

It was also an opportunity for Shrewsbury supporters to pay their respects to Michael Evans, better known to many of his fellow Town fans as 'Monty', whom we were saddened to
hear passed away last week.

We now plan to repeat this tribute at the first home game each year.

"The club were absolutely delighted with the respect shown for the minute's applause by the players, officials and supporters of both Shrewsbury Town and Leyton Orient," said Martin James, head of community development at the Greenhous Meadow.

"The gesture made to recognise the passing of former players, staff and supporters of the club touched the hearts of a great number of people.

"It's something we will now do for the opening home game each year as a fitting tribute."
