Robbo pleased to bring his experience to Town squad

Andy Robinson is excited to be part of Shrewsbury Town's future after signing for the club this afternoon following a successful trial.

The former Swansea, Leeds United and Tranmere man is delighted to have been handed a contract by manager Micky Mellon.

He said: "The set up here is not a League 2 set up and I think we're all going in the right direction, especially the gaffer. I think his enthusiasm has certainly rubbed off on me in the two weeks I've been here and I'm looking forward to pulling on the shirt and getting out there and showing what I can do.

"I've been very impressed in the two weeks I've been here and it's a proud day for me."

Robbo has slotted in quickly and impressed in the pre-season matches against Chesterfield and West Bromwich Albion.

"I've enjoyed it and my fitness levels have been good," he added. "I had a good off season when I worked hard on my fitness which was needed and I'm looking forward to the season ahead now. I think it's going to be a good season for the club.

"There's a good balance of youth and experience and I think that's needed. We'll get the dressing room bubbling for sure and we all want the same thing. We all want to win football games and I'm no different. I'm thoroughly excited about the task ahead."
