Boss delighted to sign Mangan

24 July 2014

Former Fleetwood player moves to the Greenhous Meadow

Micky Mellon is delighted to be reunited with Andy Mangan after the striker completed a move to Shrewsbury Town earlier today.

The manager knows all about the Liverpudlian as Mangan was part of the Fleetwood squad he led to promotion to the Football League when he was in charge of the Lancashire club.

He believes Mangan will have "a real hunger and desire to want to show people how good he is" after signing a one-year deal at the Greenhous Meadow.

Mangan, 27, has joined Town from Forest Green Rovers while his former clubs also include Blackpool, Accrington Stanley and Bury.

Micky said: "It's been ongoing and something I wanted to get done sometime ago. Thankfully we've finally managed to get it done and he's in the building and training.

"I believe he'll be a really important part of what we're trying to achieve here.

"I know him really well and I know what he's capable of. I know the job I want him to do for us as a group. He's a great lad and I'm delighted to have him here.

"He's coming in with a real hunger and desire to want to show people how good he is.

"He's already shown that today so he's well in the group and now it's just about getting him up to speed with his fitness and sharpness.

"I know that we've got another really good player here."

Mangan is the fourth striker to sign for Shrewsbury this summer following James Collins, Scott Vernon and Jean Louis Akpa-Akpro.
