Micky still waiting on decision from Connor
Connor Goldson continues to keep his options open as Micky Mellon waits patiently to find out if the defender will be part of his Shrewsbury Town plans for the new season.
The manager is keen to keep him and hopes to receive an answer as quickly as possible.
"It's still ongoing," said Micky this morning. "We have to wait and see what happens with that before we can maybe move on other things but we've got plans either way if Connor decides that his future's going to lie here.
"But we have to wait and get an answer on that as quickly as we can.
"We've got people here training with us at the moment that if Connor decides his future's elsewhere that we can bring them on board.
"We're in constant dialogue with him. His agent tells us that he's out talking to people today so we should hopefully know a little bit more today, but we thought that we were going to know a little bit more last Friday.
"I want to be as transparent as possible because I don't want the fans being in any doubt that we are trying to get it sorted out as quickly as we can.
"I just hope they appreciate the situation that we're in as a football club, that there's not an awful lot we can do or move on until we get absolute clarification of what the situation is."
Micky said the trialists training with the squad are doing well as he looks to put the finishing touches to his rebuilding job.
He added: "We've got a few trialists in at the moment who are catching our eye and hopefully will continue to do that over pre-season so we'll see how things pan out.
"I'm getting towards being happy with the players I've got in the building, if not maybe the numbers yet, but we'll work on that. We've got a plan for that and we've got a few things lined up that we want to get done.
"We're in a good place and we've got 20 players training every day which is good and we've got a lot of talented lads out there."
