Micky happy with pre-season games for his new-look team

Micky Mellon is pleased to have added Championship club Watford to Shrewsbury Town's pre-season fixture list and hopes to be able to announce another game soon.

The Hornets will make their first visit to the Greenhous Meadow on Saturday, July 19.

It will complete a busy few days for Town at the Meadow as they kick off their build-up for the new League 2 season against Chesterfield next Saturday, July 12 before hosting Premier League West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday, July 15.

Away friendlies have also been confirmed at Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday, July 29 and Altrincham on Friday, August 1.

Micky said Watford will provide his new-look squad with another good challenge.

"We're delighted to get that sort of opposition up to Shrewsbury for another tough pre-season test," said the manager.

"Watford will play with three centre backs so it gives us another problem to deal with. That's really good and we're just waiting for confirmation on another game which will present us with another type of challenge.

"We're pleased with the games that we've arranged and it's all about getting the players ready for that first game of the season and giving them as many challenges as possible and getting them game ready."
