Micky relishing Hornets clash

Boss expects another tough test against Watford

Micky Mellon knows today's friendly against Championship club Watford will be another good test for his new-look Shrewsbury Town squad.

The manager has been encouraged with the level of performance against both Chesterfield and West Bromwich Albion as he prepares for the Greenhous Meadow clash against the Hornets (3pm).

Micky said: "I know them very well from the Championship last season. They're a very good footballing side. They've got loads of pace all over the place and they will all want to get it down and play good football.

"Just like the West Brom game, we'll come up against good footballers that if we're not tidy and tight on our technique they'll punish us."

The manager added: "It's all about fitness and players getting time under their belts. We haven't really tactically or shape wise been able to do too much. We've done enough to be able to see that it's having a bit of an impact on the way that we're playing.

"We're really happy with where we're at. We knew that this was going to be a difficult week for the players physically but that's why we did it this way.

"We have another tough test off the back of two previously tough tests so it's good."
