Wildig on course to feature against Watford

Wildig back in contention but Leutwiler and McAllister set to sit out game

Aaron Wildig is on course to feature for the first time in pre-season when Shrewsbury Town welcome Watford to the Greenhous Meadow on Saturday.

But manager Micky Mellon has revealed that goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler is likely to sit out the clash with the Championship club as he has a thigh problem.

The Swiss keeper also missed Tuesday night's game with West Bromwich Albion for that reason but Micky stressed it's not a concern.

"He'll miss out again," he said. "If we were desperate and it was a league game then he could probably play.

"He's sort of 90 per cent and if it goes wrong you could be looking at two or three weeks. If we just give him another few days then he'll be fine next week."

Micky added there was better news on Wildig who has not played a part in either of the pre-season games with Chesterfield and West Brom.

He said: "He's now stepping up his training. He's had quite a difficult week and we'll be looking for Aaron to certainly take quite a big part in the game this weekend."

Dave McAllister is also making progress and Micky said: "Dave's not done a full training session yet so he'll probably be looking to do a full training session today and tomorrow and then get a good week under his belt."

Micky remains keen to add to his squad with trialists Akwasi Asante, Craig Curran, Jordan Clarke and Andy Robinson contuining to train with the club.

He added: "We're talking to all of them. They obviously have the right to go and speak to other clubs as well. They're all here today and it's just an ongoing situation that you get in football."
