Academy youngsters register at the Meadow

8 June 2014

Youngsters sign on for Town at induction evening

With an exciting eye to the future, young footballers Ben Paul, Dan Woollam, James Langford, Joshua Measor, Thomas Hathaway, Elijah England, Charlie Connacher, George Hinchcliffe and Billy West, who form our latest Academy under-nine squad, have been invited to the Greenhous Meadow.

It was as part of their induction to Shrewsbury Town Football Club and for the youngsters to officially register as Academy players.

Two special guests, Shrewsbury Town and England under-18 international goalkeeper Callum Burton, and the club's Wales under-19 international defender Dom Smith, both products of the Academy system, were at the Meadow to welcome the boys and answer questions.

The boys have been selected following a spell with our pre-academy that has seen them represent Shrewsbury Town in various festivals and matches.

Academy manager Steve Reece said: "I would like to welcome the boys and their families to the football club and I hope that they too will emulate the success of previous Academy players including Joe Hart, David Edwards, Connor Goldson, Jon Taylor, Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Woods.

"I look forward to working with the boys and wish them luck for their future with the club."
