Micky wants players to take responsibility

Micky Mellon wants all of his Shrewsbury Town players to be leaders - highlighting the importance of them needing to take responsibility for their level of performance.

The manager feels players need to drive themselves on to give

Town's new-look squad the best possible chance of being successful this season.

Micky said: "They've all got to be leaders. At the end of the day you're in control of your own destiny as a footballer so you have to fight to make sure that it goes the way that you want it to go so I'll be encouraging all the players to be like that.

"I won't be letting anybody lead anybody. I'll be encouraging people to make sure that they have to take control of their own situation and that's the way I've always dealt with teams.

"The responsibility is on everybody as individuals to make sure that they play their part and make sure that Shrewsbury bounce back very, very quickly."
