Young defender shines against Greece and Belgium
Shrewsbury Town defender Dominic Smith's long season ended on a positive note when he helped Wales under-19s beat Greece 3-0 in their UEFA Elite Round qualifier in Portugal this week.
Dom helped Wales finish second in the group behind hosts Portugal having helped the young Dragons kick off the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium last Thursday.
The local lad missed the 3-2 defeat to Portugal in between as he was suspended.
Town assistant manager Mike Jackson was pleased that Dom performed so well and is now looking forward to working with him when he reports back for pre-season training as a newly-signed professional later this month.
Jacko said: "The more game time he gets the better for him. What he's going to need now is to have a good break as it's been a long season for him.
"Physically, it will have taken a lot out of him so I'm delighted for the boy that he's done well because he deserves that."
