Fan's raise over £500 for Dementia UK
It has been publicly announced that Shrewsbury Town legend Alf Wood is suffering from dementia. Alf also represented Man City, Millwall, Hull City, Middlesbrough, Walsall and Stafford Rangers in an illustrious playing career spanning 488 games in which he scored 117 goals.
As a show of thanks to Alf for the great footballing moments he gave to so many and in recognition of the amazing efforts of those caring for dementia sufferers, Shrewsbury Town fans from the blueandamber forum came up with the idea of raising much needed money for Dementia UK.
The initial aim is to raise £488 – a pound for every game Alf played.
With over £500 already donated, that target has been beaten but the campaign carries on.
We urge fans of all of Alf’s former clubs and anyone else who wishes to give, to dig deep for such a great cause.
Dementia UK is a national charity committed to improving the quality of life for those affected by dementia. Their website can be found at www.dementiauk.org
