Jacobson, Smith and Burton join Lenny at Sports Village run

Shrewsbury Town's Community Trust were actively involved in supporting the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile held at the Shrewsbury Sports Village last weekend.

Lenny the Lion, the club's larger than life mascot, warmed up the participants before taking to the track himself while Town players Joe Jacobson, Callum Burton and Dominic Smith opened the event and sounded the horn to start the one, three and six mile distances.

They offered encouragement throughout and later handed out the medals.

Joe said: “The weather certainly didn’t keep anyone away from taking part in this great event.”

Andrew Bradbury, community coaching officer for Shrewsbury Town's Community Trust, added: “It was great to see so many people turn out to the event and see so many young families supporting this important cause.”

Lenny the Lion proved a particularly big hit with all the participants and was on hand to pose for photos and motivate runners as well as entertain the crowd.

The Community Trust would like to thank everyone who braved the event held in rather wet and cold conditions and also everyone who made a donation to Sports Relief.
