Ryan hoping to help Town push for safety

Ryan Woods heads back to a ground he knows well this weekend with only one thought on his mind  - helping Shrewsbury Town move a step closer towards League One safety.

The young utility player was born near and continues to live not too far from Walsall's Banks's Stadium and used to watch the Saddlers play regularly as a schoolboy.

"It's only down the road, probably 10 minutes to the ground, so it's a nice little trip for me," said Woods. "My dad's always been a Walsall supporter and I was as well when I was younger, I used to go home and away.

"I used to follow them for a couple of seasons until I left Walsall and came to Shrewsbury."

"But my dad will be supporting Shrewsbury on Saturday - he's got to!"

Woods knows it's another important game for Town against Walsall with seven games now remaining this season.

He said: "We're picking up a lot of points away from home at the moment, but we had an important win last Saturday at home to Bradford and then got a decent point at Carlisle although obviously we wanted to get the three. We'll just keep pushing on now for Saturday."
