Micky Mellon looking to give Callum Burton and Harry Lewis their chance

Manager Micky Mellon is considering his goalkeeping options ahead of the new season after Chris Weale and Joe Anyon were both released.

He said he had spoken to various goalkeeping targets but he also knows Shrewsbury have two promising young keepers already on professional contracts in England under-18 international Callum Burton and Harry Lewis, the grandson of club legend Ken Mulhearn.

"I don't know what it is about Shrewsbury but they produce fantastic goalkeepers," said Mellon. "There's a conveyor belt of goalkeepers.

"I know all about them (Callum and Harry) and they are two terrific prospects. They'll get their opportunity like everybody else will get to impress us.

"We are looking to recruit goalkeepers or a goalkeeper. We have got a few in mind that we are speaking to and we'll look to try and bring somebody in with the credentials which we like that could make us successful.

"I know about the two young goalkeepers and I'm really pleased to have them here."
