7 May 2014

England take on Ukraine as they look to qualify for Canada World Cup

With less than 48 hours to go, the final countdown to England Women’s World Cup qualifier against Ukraine has begun.

The international showpiece takes place on Thursday 8 May (KO 7.30pm) at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium, Shrewsbury.

England are five matches into their qualifying campaign for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, and sit top of Group 6 with a 100 per cent record.

Tickets for the game are priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and are available from www.shrewsshop.com or 01743 273 943.  A family ticket is also available at £10 (two adults and two children) and fans can also buy tickets on the day from Shrewsbury Town FC ticket office.

Before the match fans are invited to visit the free FA Junior Fanzone, brought by Continental Tyres, which will be open from 5.30pm at Greenhous Meadow.

The fun Fanzone includes football and lifestyle activities, aimed at all the family.  Children will be able to test their football skills in a speed cage and at an inflatable target shoot, while older fans can check their reflexes on a special batak board.

Aston Villa pair Sherry McCue and Laura Cooper will be welcoming fans to the Fanzone and whilst the youngsters are putting their skills to the test, Charlotte Lade, one of the world’s leading professional football freestylers, will be entertaining the fans with her amazing football tricks and skills.

Alongside the sporting activities, there will be music, hair braiding and face painting, while England’s three lion mascots Roary, Pauz and Mayne will be there to welcome fans, along with Shrewsbury Town’s very own Lenny the Lion and The FA WSL mascot Berry the Bear.
