Matt Williams To Join As Club Chief Executive

Matt Williams, an experienced football administrator is leaving his current role as Club Secretary at Championship side Blackpool to take up the reins at the Greenhous Meadow.

 

With over twelve years' experience in professional football, predominantly in the role of Club Secretary Williams said, "It is a great honour and a privilege to be involved in the management of such a fantastic club. I am looking forward to the challenge and I cannot wait to get started.

 

"I know from my recent discussions with the Chairman that the entire club is hurting following the relegation from League One, we have some significant work and big decisions to make in the coming weeks.

 

"The club needs to move forward again both on and off the pitch, it is clear that there is real potential and opportunity at Shrewsbury to grow and succeed - I am fully committed to making that happen."

 

The appointment of Williams comes just a week after Chairman Roland Wycherley announced a full root and branch review of the club and its operation.

 

The Chairman said, "I am confident that Matt will prove an excellent chief executive and from my meetings with him, his positivity, work ethic and enthusiasm is infectious.

 

"He is someone whose career I have tracked for a number of years and I am delighted he has agreed to join us.

 

"Matt is held in high regard throughout football and has been an integral part of Blackpool's success over the last ten years.

 

"He has a number of ideas and initiatives which he is keen to implement for the new season and I am delighted to have him on board."

 

Williams will officially begin his employment on Tuesday 27th May.
