Season Ticket Holder Discount at Smoke Stop

10 November 2014

20% discount for season ticket holders at Shropshire's first American Smokehouse

Shrewsbury Town legend Jake King is to be honoured through a winning offer being dished up to the club's fans at Shropshire's first American Smokehouse.

Smoke Stop. The Road to BBQ is giving Greenhous Meadow season ticket holders 20 per cent off their total bill.

Ryan King, manager of Smoke Stop, at Ford, near Shrewsbury, has close links with the county's only Football League club and says season ticket holders can look forward to the generous discount.

His father, Jake, played more than 300 league matches for the club between 1973 and 1982 before later returning for a spell as manager.

Ryan said: "We will give season ticket holders 20 per cent discount off their total bill whenever they come in at any time. We want to give something back to the club's supporters as we have a big connection with the club through my dad.

"Shrewsbury Town means a lot to our family and we wouldn't be here if my dad hadn't been scouted in Glasgow when he was 15-years-old to come down and start playing for the club.

"My dad still has a great love for the club and we all think it would be nice to give something back to the Shrewsbury supporters."

Smoke Stop - once the very quintessentially English country pub Ye Olde Cross Gates Inn - offers an authentic taste of America's deep south right in the heart of rural Shropshire.

This specialist American Smokehouse takes its customers on a gastronomic journey right across the pond and has proved extremely popular with diners since opening in June.

From mouth-watering Hickory smoked ribs, pulled pork, buffalo wings and slaw to peanut butter brownie cheesecake, warm American waffles and root beer floats, plus bucketfuls of fresh popcorn and shakes and sodas, the menu pays true homage to America's deep south.

The All American transformation includes two smokers ovens all the way from Memphis.

King has also shown his support to Shrewsbury Town by sponsoring the away kit of the club's young defender Cameron Gayle.

King added: "Cameron plays right back, as my dad did, so it's nice to sponsor someone with a bit of meaning to us.

"If I can't get to the games I always make sure when I'm working in the kitchen that I listen to the matches on the radio.

"I always want to see the club do well - my dad's the same - and I think Shrewsbury are a big club in League Two. It was also great to see them have such a brilliant run in the Capital One Cup and play so well against Chelsea.

"Now we hope lots of Shrewsbury Town supporters will take advantage of our offer.

"When they come and see us all they have to do is tell us they have their season ticket with them and we will discount 20 per cent from their total bill."
