Knight-Percival On Cheltenham

Defender feels crowd can give Town a lift

Defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival hopes the Greenhous Meadow crowd can give Shrewsbury Town the required lift to get back to winning ways on Saturday.

Town return to action at home to Cheltenham Town over the weekend (3pm kick off) following back-to-back away games in the league.

And Knight-Percival believes that being back on home soil can help the Club turn around their recent form on the road.

“It’s good to be back, we’ve had a few games on the road so it’s always nice to be back playing in front of the home fans again,” said Knight-Percival.

“Obviously we have great support, the fans have been fantastic and when we have played at home they have got right behind us.

“We really appreciate, as players, these fantastic crowds and we want to do well for them.

“But ultimately what we need to do is start picking up points and climbing the table.”

And after a hard week of training – which included a thunderstorm – the defender is confident that the right work ethic and spirit is being shown by the group to get things moving again.

“There is a really good atmosphere at the moment and it is just a case of taking that onto the pitch to get the result we need,” he said.

“We’re working towards getting that result by working hard on the training pitch.”

Despite Town only netting two goals in their last eight games, the 27-year-old was quick to back his forward colleagues to start scoring again.

“It is very small margins and we get opportunities as well and we have to start taking them.

“But we know if we keep creating the chances, we have the quality in our strikers which means we should start getting more goals soon.”
