Network Rail Youngsters Receive Special Visit

14 October 2014

Vincent and Burton pop along to week five

Children taking part in the Network Rail programme in partnership with Shrewsbury Town Community Sports Trust received a special visit from first team players Ashley Vincent and Callum Burton on Monday.

Vincent, who is Town's Network Rail ambassador, joined goalkeeper Callum Burton in speaking to the youngsters as part of the week five session, the midpoint of the ten-week programme.

Sessions are delivered on the Club’s doorstep at the Lucozade Powerleague - a prime location to deliver a railway safety education programme with a railway running adjacent to the football ground.

The children also received free network rail water bottles and got the chance to have a chat with the professional players.

The new partnership between Network Rail and The Football League Trust (FLT) sees Shrewsbury Town CST, along with nine other Football League clubs, work with Network Rail's community safety managers to boost awareness of railway safety

The sessions commence on Mondays from 6-7pm and are open to children aged between 12 and 14. The programme is also completely free and runs for ten weeks.
