YOUTH: Ashton Out On Loan

Young keeper plays for Ellesmere Rangers

Youth keeper Alex Ashton has joined Midland Football Alliance side Ellesmere Rangers on work experience.

It means that Alex will continue to train and receive his education at Town but will be available to play for Ellesmere in their games.  Alex joined on Friday and played in the Meresiders 3-0 win over Wellington Amateurs on Saturday.

The move is part of the ongoing relationship between Town’s Academy and Ellesmere that has seen a number of players play for the Meresiders.

Town’s Academy Manager Steve Reece said:”It is a good move for Alex as it gives him the possibility of playing men’s football.

“It is important that our players get opportunities such as this as it helps their development.

“Alex is a good young keeper with the potential to do well and hopefully the games he gets at Ellesmere will help him.

“Ellesmere are a good local club and it’s great that we have built this relationship which we can both benefit from.”
