#SingYourHeartsOut - Fans's groups urge supporters to go retro for Exeter
Fan's groups have urged supporters to get retro for Saturday's visit of Exeter City to the Greenhous Meadow.
The idea is for fans to wear their old Shrewsbury Town tops to turn the Greenhous Meadow into a sea of blue and amber.
It is part of the fans #SingYourHeartsOut idea to give Micky and the players loud and full on backing as they make their final push for promotion.
The weather forecast is looking good for Saturday so it's time to dig out those old shirts and join in with Retro Day.
Twitter group @salopbluesarmy started the idea which has been backed by all of the clubs supporters groups:"This Saturday we are looking to see all Salop fans backing our Retro Day idea. Throughout the years Shrewsbury Town have released some fantastic (and some horrific) tops and we ask all supporters young and old to wear their favourite classic Shrewsbury Town top to the Exeter City game on Saturday afternoon.
“Whether it's the famous 'Scrambled Egg' top; the 1980-81 top which appeared in Spinal Tap or the 2003-04 top from the conference season, we want to see as many shirts that help celebrate the history of Shrewsbury Town.
“Why not get yourself down the Meadow in one of the many historic tops and cheer the team on to what could be a decisive win in the quest of promotion."
Retro Day is something that Town manager Micky Mellon is backing and he's looking forward to walking out to a see of blue and amber:”It is a great idea from the fans and something we fully support as we go into these important games.
“The support since I came to the club has been brilliant and they have never let us down.
”They are fantastic and they come out and get right behind us when we need them and to see the stands packed with retro shirts will be fantastic.”
It's looking like another bumper crowd on Saturday so if you are planning to come to the game the advice is to get your tickets early to save the queues. You can get your Exeter tickets online at www.shrewsshop.co.uk, from the ticket office at the Greenhous Meadow or over the phone 01743 273943.
