Woodsy, “Let’s Make It Five On The Bounce”

5 April 2015

Midfield aiming to keep Town's good run in going

Ryan Woods is looking for Town to try and continue their recent winning run going at Mansfield and make it five wins on the bounce.

The highly rated midfielder has been in good form lately helping to pull the strings in the middle for Town.

The win against Dagenham was another good victory for Town and Woodsy is hoping Town are over their blip last month:”It’s absolutely brilliant, it doesn’t matter about the performances now it’s about getting 3 points.

“It’s all about the results and if we can pick-up a win at Mansfield that will be five wins on the bounce.

“We’ve got over the little blip that everyone talked about and kicked on and that will keep us strong now.”

When Town dropped a few points that the start of March some fans started to panic despite them still being in second place in the League table.  Ryan thinks it was just a temporary lose of intensity that caused it but that is now back and the results are back on track:”We have always had confidence in our work rate and our ability but we just lost a little of the intensity that we had been showing.

“I think we have found that again now and we are working hard and that allows our ability to come through and that takes over.”

Town's goals against Dagenham both came from the head of Connor Goldson.  He and Ryan had a little bet ahead of the season on who would score the most this season, with Connor now on seven he is seven ahead of Woodsy:”At the start of the season we had a little handshake between us about who could score the most goals and I’m afraid to say he might be taking that one home with him.

“Fair play to him, he’s a top player and we’ve all put the work in to get the result and hopefully we all can continue to push on.

“I’m due a goal, I came close against Dagenham but it wasn’t to be.  Hopefully I’ll get one before the end of the season just for my own pride.”

With Town winning on Friday, Burton drawing and Wycombe losing the league table turned in Town's favour.  Everyone looks at the other results and that's the same for the players:”Of course we will have a little peek at the other results but it’s all about us and if we keep winning games then that puts the pressure on everyone else.

“The main thing is promotion but our opinion is that we really want to try and win the league.”

The focus now turns to Monday's trip to Mansfield Town and another tough looking away trip.  Ryan revealed that the team are going into every game with the aim to win it, and keep winning:”Obviously they have had a difficult season so far this season but we will be going there expecting a tough game.

“All the games are going to be the same from now on and that will be about our work rate and how hard we work off the ball.

“That is the first and foremost thing, after that hopefully our ability will be able to give us the edge.

“As I always say in any interview we will go there looking to win,  we’ve had four on the bounce and hopefully we can come away with a fifth.

“A couple more wins should see us in a good position but we want to win all of our remaining games and finish in the best position we can.”
