Mark Ellis On Palace Clash

25 August 2015

Defender Wants Town To Enjoy The Occasion

"They’re in that division (Premier League) for a reason,” said Ellis.

"Whatever team they put out they'll be a good test for us, but we go there full of confidence and try to get something from the game.

"We don't know what team they're going to play.

"They might play the same team as the weekend or they might make 11 changes.”

And Ellis, who cannot predict what team the Eagles will line-up with, knows Town will be in for a difficult test.

Palace finished 10th in the Premier League last season and have started the 2015/16 season strongly.

"It's going to be a great test for us,” said the defender.

"There's no reason why we can't go and cause another upset like we did last year.

"We’ve just got to go and enjoy it and play with a big smile on our face and see what happens.

“We'll go there to a nice stadium and play football.

"The lads worked their socks off at Blackburn, and if we work our socks off again there's no reason why we can't get something this time.”

And Ellis insists Shrewsbury must relish the occasion on the night.

The Shrews won 2-1 at Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the first round of the League Cup and knocked out Blackpool, Leicester City and Norwich City in the competition last season.

Town travel to Selhurst Park to take on the Premier League side in Round 2 of the competition (7.45pm kick-off).

Mark Ellis believes there is no reason why Shrewsbury Town cannot cause an upset at Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.
