Result: Shrewsbury Town 2-1 Millwall

On the whole I'm feeling very positive at the moment and hope to return from my holiday disappointed that I missed two great wins!

Our other youth team product Connor Goldson has also looked as dependable as ever and I'm very pleased to see that they are staying with us for another season.

I've been pretty impressed with pretty much all of our new signings with Mat Sadler and Martin Woods impressing me the most. In pre-season Ryan Woods looked to be even more fearless than last season and seemed to be looking to get forward more often.

Well I always start the season in optimistic fashion and continue that through to the end of the season so it will come as no surprise to see me do the same.

Prediction

Apart from the pre-season friendlies that they played there isn't any form and there isn't much you can learn from them about what sort of team we will see. I wont be including any form statistics until we're about ten games into the season.

Form

He started his football career with Mansfield town but only played a couple of first team games for them before moving to Halifax. At 26 years old and having dropped a division, I expect Gregory to have a pretty good season but hopefully that will start somewhere other that the Greenhous Meadow.

Last seasons top scorer is Lee Gregory who scored nine times in the Championship last year. He's been with the club since his £250,000 transfer from Halifax Town in June 2014. He'd been with the Yorkshire club for nigh on three years and scored an impressive 29 league goals in just 31 games.

Performer

Shrewsbury and Millwall last met almost 20 years ago in a Football League Division Two 1-1 draw in February 1997 at Gay Meadow. All told we have played each other 32 times in the league with Millwall having the better of things with 14 wins to our nine.

Head to Head

The forward is in his third spell with the club and was once the subject of a near three million pounds move away from the Den to Norwich City.

He has made a few signings though with Steve Morison being the one of the most prominent.

The Lions have shown faith in last seasons manager Neil Harris and in turn, Harris has kept faith with many of last seasons relegated team.

Millwall are one of the relegated teams from last year's Championship season after finishing the season in 22nd place.

So I'm sitting sipping my early morning brew on holiday in Delft and I suddenly realize that the football season starts tomorrow and I have a preview to write! So through a patchy wireless camp-site wifi network I will endeavour to do so.
