Town To Wear Third Kit

10 August 2015

Kit clashes means third kit for some away games

Town will wear a third kit in some games next season due to possible colours clashes in some games.

The trips to Wigan and Colchester in the league and to Blackburn in the Capital One Cup will see Town wear the third choice shirt.

Errea have supplied their version of last season’s popular yellow and black shirt and this will be the third choice for the upcoming season.

It won’t be on sale in the Clubshop but at the end of the season the playing shirts will be signed and auctioned off in aid of charity.

Town’s CEO Matt Williams explained the reasoning behind the decision when he sat down with ShrewsWeb;”We were aware after promotion that there would possibly be a couple of clashes when clubs wore blue and white stripes.

“There are a few clashes with the home and away kits so we decided to get at a third kit to save any embarrassment on matchday.

“We spoke to Errea and got an off the peg black and yellow stripped shirt which will be for this season only.  It keeps some continuity from last season's away kit.

“We have no plans at present to sell the third kit in the shop as we are concentrating on the sale of the new home and away shirts.

“Hopefully Greenhous will renew their shirt sponsorship with us for next season, Derek and I have a good relationship and the support that he and Greenhous have given us over the years has been fantastic and I am keen to develop that partnership.

“If they renew then we will retain our commitment of having the current home shirt for two years and the current away shirt would then move to being the third shirt.

“There is dialogue with Errea for next season to produce a new away shirt and they want us to get the wheels in motion to run a competition where a supporter will go out to Italy and help design the kit.

“We will need to have some discussions internally and plan to have some with the Supporters Parliament about possible suggestions for Errea to start with and then go from there.

“ It was never our intention to bring out three kits in one year for the supporters to buy, we want to have continuity and with the Errea deal being a four year deal we will be able to achieve that and the shirt we release in summer 2016 will be for two years.

“At the end of the season we will get the third shirts signed by the players and they will then be auctioned off for charity.”

The third kit will be worn for the first time when Town travel to Blackburn Rovers in the Capital One Cup next week.
