Tyrone Barnett Post Tranmere Rovers

2 August 2015

Ty happy with sides win at Tranmere

Town finished their pre-season matches with a 4-1 win away to Tranmere Rovers.

The scoreline probably didn't reflect the chances that Rovers had but Town were more clinical with theirs and scored some nice goals.

The goals all came from Town's forwards with Tyrone Barnett getting things going in the first half with a well placed header.

After the game Ty spoke to the press to give his thoughts on the game;”It was a tough challenge for us today coming to place where they are looking to bounce back into the league.

“I think we went about things and stayed professional and did a really good job.”

With Ty, Liam McAlinden, James Collins and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro all scoring it gives manager Micky Mellon a good headache when it comes to who starts upfront against Millwall next weekend;”To get one each is good and it gives the gaffer a good problem when it comes to picking the side on Saturday.

“We've all done a good job over pre-season, have all got good minutes under our belts so now it's down to the gaffer to see who he picks.

“I've played with all three now, the gaffer has got different things to look at and what different pairs can do and can pick what he thinks is best on the day.”

Pre-season has gone well for Town with some good tests on the pitch, quality on the training pitch and only knocks and bumps on the injury front.  Ty has looked sharp in his first pre-season with Town and is now ready for the chance to take on Millwall;”I feel good, I've done my first full 90 minutes of the pre-season so that is good to get under my belt.

“I think the whole team is now ready for the start of the season, we've had some tough game and pretty good results.

“The gaffer has said he's pleased with things and where we are at this stage in time and we all can't wait for next week.”

The challenge of the Sky Bet League 1 will be a tough one for Town but everyone is up for that challenge.  The feeling in the camp is that the group of players is capable of that challenge and to push on next season;”As a group the aspirations are to be climbing up the table as high as we can do, and with the group we have here I think we can do that.

“We have shown over the pre-season games what we've got and how well we are gelling together as a group and hopefully we can have a good start to the season.”
