Abu Ogogo post Grimsby Town

Abs thoughts after the FA Cup win over Grimsby

Abu Ogogo was delighted to score the winning goal that sent Shrewsbury through to the next round of the FA Cup. The 26-year-old is looking forward to facing Cardiff in the third round:
“It was nice to score. We didn’t give them any time to recover so it was good to find the net when we did. Collins set me up nicely and I caught it well, I knew it was in as soon as I hit it. I caught it sweet off the laces so it was brilliant to see it hit the back of the net. Hopefully I can get a few more goals this season now, whenever I get a chance I will try and score.”

“Cardiff will be nice. They will be favourites but we will go there with confidence. I have played there a long time ago and I remember it being a great stadium.”

The former Arsenal player was impressed by the Mariners performance:
“I thought Grimsby were very good. I thought we were on top in the first half but in the second they put us under a lot of pressure and had a few chances so we were just grateful to get through to the next round. Grimsby came to the game as underdogs and we knew they were going to work hard to test us so it was a good challenge over the two legs.”

The midfielder felt Mark Halstead had another solid game between the sticks:
“Mark kept us in the game with some brilliant saves. It was a shame for Jayson to pick up an injury but Mark has come in and he has done fantastic.”

Ogogo is confident Shrewsbury can keep their good form going now and is glad to have three home games coming up:
“I think we are clicking now. One defeat in six is a good sign and we have players returning from injury so hopefully we can get even better. We want to win every game no matter what competition so hopefully we can build on this form now going back to the league on the weekend. I am very settled here now. I was disappointed with my own second half performance but I have been doing well recently so I am happy.”

“We have travelled around a lot recently so it is nice to be at home for the next three games. Swindon will be a big game on the weekend and we will have to play well but we are confident of getting the three points.”
