Abu Ogogo Post Walsall

Abs thoughts after the Walsall defeat

Abu Ogogo was frustrated after Shrewsbury Town were defeated 3-1 at home to Walsall. The midfielder felt the Shrews could have won if they were more clinical:
“It was very frustrating to lose after going 1-0 up. We said at half time to make sure to see it through but we just couldn’t get going in the second half. James Collins missed a chance for us to go two up in the first half and if that would have gone in we would have had a fantastic chance of winning the game but unfortunately for us it didn’t.”

The 26-year-old felt Ian Black’s sending off was a turning point in the game:
“When it was 11 v 11 up to the 70th minute we gave a really good account of ourselves but the red card was the turning point. They caught us on the counter to win the game which was annoying but that it how they play.”

The former Arsenal youth player was impressed with how the season’s new recruits have performed recently:
“Larnell Cole has been playing well and has been setting up goals so it was nice to see him get one of his own today. Anthony Gerrard is doing really well too. He is improving week on week and he is a great character off the pitch as well so he is a great addition to the squad.”

Despite the loss Ogogo was content with the side’s performances in recent games:
“I think we have been playing well against top teams in the last few games. It was hard to lose but we can take positives from it and move on to the next one.”
