Manager Looking Forward To Cup Action On Monday
Watch the full interview with Micky on Shrews PlayerHD here."He (Cole) came off with a groin injury, we got him in at half-time and he was no good to go (out for) the second half," said Micky.
"There’s a few days left before we have to make a decision on him.
"We’ll see (if he’ll be ready), but we’ll get prepared just in case he isn’t.
"It just opens up the way for someone else."
Micky provided an injury update on Larnell Cole, who came off injured against Walsall on Tuesday night and faces a race to be fit for Monday.
"They have done very well in the league that they’re in," he said.
"We have a lot of respect for them, and we know that we go up there and it’s going to be an occasion where we’ll have to be very good, to represent this club properly and try and get into the hat for the next round.
"It’s as hard as you make it, isn’t it?
"We have to concentrate on what we do, make sure we get most or all of it right and I’m sure that we’ll be fine and like I say give a good account of ourselves.
"When I was at Fleetwood we managed against Grimsby plenty of times.
"It’s always a tough place to go, Grimsby, they’ve always had a great tradition.
"We know to expect a real battle, and we’re looking forward to it."
Micky says it won’t be an easy task overcoming The Mariners, who have won their last five games in all competitions.
"It’s obviously the FA Cup so we’re looking forward to it," said Micky.
"It’s a real special tournament that everybody wants to be a part of, so there's a lot of excitement and we're really looking forward to going up to Grimbsy and taking part in it."
And Micky insists his side have a lot of respect for their non-league opponents.
The Shrews take a break from league duty to travel to the National League side (7.45pm kick-off) for the Emirates FA Cup Second Round Proper tie.
Manager Micky Mellon is looking forward to seeing Shrewsbury Town back in cup action at Grimsby Town on Monday night.
