FULL-TIME: Port Vale 2-2 Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury looked the more likely of the sides to grab a late winner as Clark saw one effort saved and another just miss the bottom corner, but it finished all square as the Town players all came through a good workout.

Chekaine Steele crossed low from the right and Turner arrived in the box to stroke the ball into the bottom right corner from 12 yards out.

And Vale evened the game up again Turner with 62 minutes on the clock.

Clark could then have extended the lead in the 56th minute but his curled effort towards the bottom right corner from outside the box was tipped around the post well by Rusling.

Jordan Clark fed the ball across the edge of the penalty area to Whalley who then fired a low, first-time shot under Rusling to put Town in front.

The Shrews, managed by Ian Dawes and goalkeeping coach Danny Coyne, took lead seven minutes after the interval Shaun Whalley.

HALF-TIME: Port Vale 1-1 Shrewsbury Town

A header from Whalley's corner was met by a stunning save from Vale goalkeeper Danny Rusling, but Smith was on hand to fire a low shot in from close range to level.

But defender Dominic Smith did force the equaliser three minutes before half-time.

Mat Sadler could have pulled Town level when he volleyed over from close range following head tennis in the Port Vale penalty area.

The Valiants took the lead in the clash on the training pitches next to Vale Park through Jonathan Kapend in the 31st minute, who tapped in from the edge of the six-yard box from Dan Turner's ball across the surface on the right.

Shrewsbury Town fought out a draw at Port Vale in the Final Third Development League's West Division on Wednesday afternoon.
