Tyrone Barnett post Peterborough

Ty on his goal at Posh and a point for Town

Tyrone Barnett came off the bench at Peterborough and was on the spot to fire home Town’s equaliser against his former club.

The home crowd had given him some stick when he came on but Ty found the perfect way to silence the Posh faithful.

It gave Town a much deserved point from a good game of end to end attacking football from both sides.

After the game Ty spoke to the press to give his thoughts on the game and his goal;”I am pleased. We deserved a draw today at least so it was great to get a point and score. We have been watching clips of them and they are a very good side. We tried to catch them on the break today because they like to keep possession and I feel we did that well.”

After a good first half performance Town went behind early in the second half after a quick counter attack from Posh;”We made a bad pass and they capitalised on our mistake like good teams do. It was a knock to us but we responded well to get the equalizer.”

It took Ty just under 10 minutes after coming on as sub to take his chance and it was one that he enjoyed;”I have been on the bench a few times prior to this so I was desperate to get on against my old club. I was booed by the home fans but that is just football for you it doesn’t bother me. Sullay KaiKai gets tremendous movement on the ball so when he hit it I thought the keeper would parry it and I followed it in. it was a fantastic feeling to score.”

Town are starting to show some good form in recent games and Ty hopes this result will help them kick on;”When we play well we deserve to be where Peterborough are. We have some brilliant players and we can mix it up with all the big teams in the division as we have shown. Hopefully this result will give us a boost and enable us to kick on.”

Focus now turns to the Greenhous Meadow where Town will take on Grimsby Town, Swindon Town and then Fleetwood Town.  A run of three home games that can hopefully see Town pick up some good results;”It is good for the fans to get a cup run so hopefully we can go through. We want to make our home ground a fortress again so hopefully we can do that starting on Tuesday.”
