Club receive sad news of the passing of ex player Geoff Morris

The club have received the news that ex player Geoff Morris has sadly passed away after a short illness, he was 66 years of age.

A former Walsall apprentice, he made his debut as a 16 year old for the club in Walsall’s 2-0 victory over Peterborough, five months before he turned professional in 1966.

He moved to Gay Meadow in January 1973 and played a big part in Town’s battle against relegation that season.  The following season, 74-75, he helped the club regain their Third division status.

Winger Geoff went on to play 83 times in the league and cup for Town, scoring 11 goals.  He always spoke fondly of the time he spent with Shrewsbury Town.

He moved on from Town to join Port Vale and then Kidderminster Harriers before settling back in Shrewsbury.

The clubs thoughts are with Geoff’s wife Dawn and all his family and friends at this sad time.
