Micky Mellon On Defeat To Northampton Town

28 February 2015

Manager Disappointed With Goals Conceded

"We're disappointed with the two goals that we gave away," said Micky.

"If you give yourselves a mountain to climb like we did then it was always going to be difficult for us.

"To give two goals away like that is very not like us.

"I thought we tried to turn it into a bit of a cup tie (in the second half) which we did. There was an awful lot of stop starts which meant we struggled to gain any kind of momentum.

"We gave it everything we could and threw players on to give us as much threat as we could and have as many goalscorers on the pitch as possible."

And Micky believes his side left themselves a mountain to climb in the end - despite making a good go of it.

Goals either side of half-time from Chris Hackett and Joel Byrom were enough to give the Cobblers a 2-1 win in the Sky Bet League 2 clash at the Greenhous Meadow - despite Mickey Demetriou pulling one back for Shrews late on.

Manager Micky Mellon was disappointed with the two goals Shrewsbury Town gave away as their unbeaten home league run came to an end against Northampton Town on Saturday.
