CST Doorstep Clubs To Be Delivered Across Shrewsbury

21 January 2015

StreetGames project to run twice a week

If you would like any further information on the Shrewsbury Town doorstep clubs please call 01743 289177 EXT216.

"Doorstep clubs are a great way for young people, who may not get a chance within the week due to costs of sessions and facilities, to access sport.

"All doorstep clubs will be free for all young people attending so they can adopt a sport habit for life."
Aiden Wassell, health and inclusion officer for Shrewsbury Town Community Sports Trust, said:

All sessions are free to attend for young people aged 14-25 with no booking needed.

The second will run on Wednesdays from 6-7pm at the Grange Secondary School gym which will alternate between football and basketball. This session will run from Wednesday 28 January.

They first will run on Monday's from 6-7pm at the Lucozade Powerleague site at the Greenhous Meadow, which is a football-based doorstep club.

Shrewsbury Town Community Sports Trust are delivering two doorstep clubs across Shrewsbury.

StreetGames is a sports charity that changes lives and communities. Doorstep sport is StreetGames’ delivery method, whereby we bring sport close to the home in disadvantaged communities at the right time, for the right price, to the right place and in the right style.

This leads to stronger and safer communities, a championing of social action and volunteering, as well as improved health and wellbeing.

The aim of each StreetGames project, accredited by StreetMark, is to be sustainable and become part of the fabric of the community. Shrewsbury Town Community Sports Trust are working alongside StreetGames to deliver two doorstep clubs across Shrewsbury.
