Market Drayton In The Cup

Shropshire Senior Cup trip to start pre-season

Town will make the short trip over to Market Drayton to kick off their pre-season game schedule.

The game is in the Shropshire Senior Cup and should be an excellent opening game for Micky Mellon’s side.

The Shropshire FA have relaxed the substitute rules in the competition and this will mean a Town first team will travel to Drayton’s Greenfields Sports Ground.

The game will take place on Saturday 11th July with a kick-off of 3pm and it should give Town a good early test as they start their preparation for the Sky Bet League 1 opening day.

Town manager Micky Mellon is looking forward to visiting Market Drayton and starting the pre-season games:”It’s a good game to start our pre-season matches with and Market Drayton should prove a decent early test.

“I’ve mentioned before the importance of building relationships with the other Shropshire clubs and Market Drayton have a decent set-up and play in a good league.

“It’s good that the Shropshire FA have relaxed the rules on substitutions and I’m hoping to give everyone who is a fit a run out.

“It will allow the fans to see the team in action again and it will be great to be back playing football once again.

“We will be approaching the game in the right way and will be looking to progress to the next round of the competition.”

Ticket details and prices will be released in due course.
