Season Review - November

Town in the top 3 and FA Cup victory

November

A 2-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge and a 2-0 victory at home to Mansfield extended Shrewsbury’s winning run in League Two to six games – and lifted them to second place in the table. They looked on course to make that seven wins in a row as they raced into a 2-0 lead at Exeter City – only for the Grecians to turn the game on its head with three goals in the second period.

Any disappointment from that result was quickly erased though, as they ended November with a 1-0 win at home to promotion rivals Burton – Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro being the match winner with an 82nd minute strike. That ensured Town finished the month inside the automatic promotion places.

November also saw Shrewsbury launch their FA Cup campaign with a trip to League One side Walsall, and a meeting with former Town hitman Tom Bradshaw. Shrewsbury led twice thanks to goals from Mark Ellis and James Collins but were pegged back each time as Bradshaw struck twice against his former club, including a 90th minute equaliser to force a replay.

Bradshaw was injured for that replay however, and Town capitalised with a Liam Lawrence goal proving enough to take them into the second round.
