Three Second-Year Scholars Offered Pro Deals

Shrewsbury Town would like to thank the seven players for their time and effort during their time at the club and wish them well for the future.

"It's difficult because you get so fond of them. They're in and around the club a lot so it's important that we do things right with them."

"You've got to be as fair and honest as possible. The ones you take on you have to give a plan to going forward, and the ones who will be leaving us to move on to a new challenge, we will also be doing the same with them.

Manager Micky Mellon said: "It's one of those days which a lot of managers don't enjoy, but it's a neccesary process of football.

Unfortunately, out of the same second-year group - seven players - Alex Ashton, Ryan Hickman, Ben Burton, Jeff Watkins, Tom Astley, Niall Flint and Alex Fletcher have been informed that the club will not be taking up options on them.

Shaun Rowley (goalkeeper), Josh Ginnelly (midfielder) and Kaiman Anderson (striker) have all been offered professional deals for the 2015/16 season.

Shrewsbury Town can confirm that three second-year scholars have been offered professional contracts with the football club.
