“I am delighted to be called up to the under 21’s.” said Smith.
“Obviously I have been in there at Under 19's since I was 17 so its nice to finally progress.
He added: “It just shows that I am improving, going from 19’s to 21’s is a big jump anyway but I just have to keep doing what I am doing and keep playing.
“I will have to get used to it quickly and adapt who your playing with and against as well, but its all part of my learning as well”
And Smith, who has been on loan at Tamworth this season, believes his time at the Conference club has helped his development considerably.
“I can see myself improving at Tamworth and then I can bring that back to Shrewsbury to show the gaffer that I am improving
“Its all experienced professionals down there that is ideal for my learning curb as I am playing with adults rather than reserves and hopefully I will just keep on improving."
