FULL-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 2-3 Accrington Stanley

But Town could not fight back and will now look to respond in Tuesday's Shropshire Senior Cup final where they will represent the Club against AFC Telford.

And after applying pressure, Watkins added another with five minutes left with a bullet header from Josh Ginnelly's corner on the right.

Ian Dawes' side pulled one back after the break as Ethan Jones headed in from Niall Flint's cross.

HALF-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 0-3 Accrington Stanley

And Stanley added a third in the 41st minute when Smith headed in at the far post.

Accrington then doubled their lead on the half-hour mark with Hartley the scorer again as he rifled a free-kick from left of centre into the far right corner - giving Harry Lewis in the Town goal no chance.

The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute when Hartley fired the ball into the top left corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Three goals in the first half from Stanley - two for Jack Hartley and one for Dylan Smith - did the damage despite Town's Under-18s rallying in the second half and pulling two back through Ethan Jones and Jeff Watkins.

Shrewsbury Town slipped to a narrow defeat against Accrington Stanley in the Football League Youth Alliance - North West League on Saturday.
