Clark Signs New Deal

New One-Year Contract For Shrewsbury Town Midfielder

"I am still classed as a young player, but we believe in the squad we have got and the manager will bring in some new faces we believe with the squad we have got we can compete in League One," he said.

"Chesterfield we felt we battered them in pre-season, although I know it’s a different kettle of fish.

"Fleetwood got promoted so we want to look up to them and do that they have done and possible go one better.

"I think we have proven we are capable of getting results against big teams. We gave the champions of England a run for their money at one stage.

"We beat Leicester, Norwich and Walsall and that shows the quality we have got – next year is looking really positive.

"There will be some big clubs and some who have been in the Premier League, the likes of Wigan and Blackpool but we know what it will be all about – it will be tough but I don’t think we will be fearing - we will be looking forward to it.

"We will take every game as it comes, but looking at it on paper we have to aim high."

Looking ahead to the challenge of League One next season, Clark believes Town can compete well in the third tier of English football.

"People who say they don’t miss football when they are off, I think they are lying. The first day the season was over I was missing it. I can’t wait to get started again."

"Playing in League Two – it’s a tough competition - but the lads have done really well and we achieved what we set out to with promotion.

"We know we are good enough to be in that league, we played some really good teams last season.

"I’ll be coming back for pre-season fitter and stronger and hopefully to achieve another promotion.

"I got told at the end of the season that the Club wanted to keep me which was nice – I must have done something right," said Clark.

"It’s great to have been given another year and hopefully now I can push on and achieve another promotion.

"Last year was my first really as a professional in the Football League and it was a really enjoyable season.

"I’m ready for next year already and I’m determined to impress.

"It was the first time I have moved away from home in my career so the whole year has been a learning curve.

And Clark was pleased to be part of a squad which won promotion from League Two.

The 21-year-old, who joined Town from Sky Bet League 1 side Barnsley last summer, appeared 33 times in all competitions for the Club during the 2014/15 campaign.

Shrewsbury Town can confirm that midfielder Jordan Clark has signed a new one-year contract with the Club.
