"What a transformation it has been," said Goldson.

"You have to congratulate the gaffer, Mike Jackson and all of the staff for doing what they done - they brought in a team of winners.

"It's a great group of players and I think it has shown in the season we've had.

"Micky (Mellon) has given me the confidence since he came into the football club that I can be whatever I want to be.

"We don't want to consolidate in League One now. We're going to aim for the stars and we've shown that we're as good as teams at that level."

After the heartbreak of relegation from League One the season before, Goldson has praised the turnaround at the Greenhous Meadow and believes Town can now go on to do well in League One.

"It's a proud moment for myself and obviously I'm very happy," said Goldson.

"It caps an amazing season not only for myself but the team.

"The players one especially, to play and train with them every day, is the main one - to get recognition from your peers. We all work hard every day to accomplish our goals.

"The fans also pay money every week to come and watch us play, travel all across the country and to get their vote as well means a lot to me."

And the 22-year-old, who has been with the Club since he was 14, has thanked both the players and fans for the awards.

Goldson, who appeared 51 times for Town throughout the season and scored seven goals, was voted as both the Player of the Year and the Players' Player of the Year for the 2014/15 season.

Defender Connor Goldson was delighted to pick up two major awards at the Shrewsbury Town end-of-season awards dinner on Sunday evening.
