"I'm a midfield player that likes to get on the ball and create things. I like to get about the pitch as well and make a few runs forward."

"I can't wait (to start pre-season). I'll get a holiday to rest the legs and then get straight back into it.

"With the team we've got here, I can see no reason why we can't be pushing for near the top of the league."

"Micky is very infectous and a really good character to have around," said Woods.

"He's got some good ideas and I'm really looking forward to working with him.

Woods know manager Micky Mellon from his days at Barnsley and is looking forward to linking up with his fellow Scot once again.

"I'm delighted to be here," said Woods.

"I spoke to the manager (Micky Mellon) a couple of weeks ago and he's been really quick to get things sorted.

"He's told me his plans for the season and spoke to Liam Lawrence as well and he couldn't have been more positive about the Club, so I was really looking forward to getting here.

"It's a club that's got a lot of good young players that I've seen come through. They play football the right way and get the ball down, and that's a big factor for me because that's something I do also."

Woods, who follows Mat Sadler and Kaiman Anderson in signing contracts with Town ahead of the 2015/16 Sky Bet League 1 season, is now looking forward to the challenge ahead as Micky Mellon's side prepare for life back in the third tier of English football.

The 29-year-old, who has more than ten years' experience in English football, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Greenhous Meadow, starting from July 1.

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Martin Woods from Scottish Premiership side Ross County.
