Sadler Signs For Town

Defender Pens Two-Year Contract At Greenhous Meadow

"The only thing with that first time (I was here) was that we didn't get promoted but we thoroughly deserved to.

"I for sure want a promotion with Shrewsbury and what better place to do it in League One up to the Championship.

"I've played a lot of games in this league and that is definitly one of the remits for the manager this summer - to bring in a few lads who have got experience of the division.

"Knowing the division as I do, I'm sure that we have nothing to fear at all.

"This division is on a knife-edge every single week and there really isn't a lot between the top and bottom.

"We'll be entering the season with a bit of momentum and why not be challenging at the top of the league this time next season.

"This is an exciting time to be a Shrewsbury Town fan and player, for sure.

"I'm really looking forward to the season now.

"I for one am really proud to be at the Football Club and am looking forward to getting started.

"It's really good to be back," said a delighted Sadler.

"I wasn't thinking about it when I came over though, I just wanted to get the deal sorted.

"Jacko (Mike Jackson) had kept in touch over the last couple of years and I had spoken to him a couple of times.

"We went to Shrewsbury a couple of weeks ago, in the town and were just walking around a couple of the shops

"We love the town and know what the Club means to the town.

The 30-year-old has now signed permanently for the Club and cannot wait to get started for Micky Mellon's side.

Sadler, who was part of the Rotherham squad in the Sky Bet Championship last season,  had been on loan at the Greenhous Meadow from Watford for the 2010/11 season.

Shrewsbury Town can confirm the signing of defender Matt Sadler on a two-year contract."
