Second-Year Scholar Agrees Professional Terms

"It's always nice to get a goal on a big occasion, especially against your rivals," he added.

The young striker also scored in Town's Shropshire Senior Cup final success over AFC Telford United last season. "I've found it good (training with the first team)," he said.

"The tempo is quick but the players have been good to me and helped me.

"They try to improve me. It's been a good step up and I think I've handled it well.

"Micky has told me his plans (for me) and they sound really good. I'm looking forward to working with Micky and the staff as well."

Jones has already trained with the first team on a number of occasions this season and feels it has helped to improved his game.
"I'm happy to be here and knuckle down and hopefully get into the first team and impress."

"I'm just thankful to the Club for giving me a chance and my family for getting me to this stage because they've supported me throughout my years at the Club.

"It was an easy decision because I've seen the setup and it's good.

"It feels like all of my hard work has paid off," said Jones.

"I'm just happy to get to this stage because not many people my age get this opportunity.

Jones has been with the Club since 14 years of age and is now looking forward to making the step up for the Shrews.

The 17-year-old striker, who has already scored eight goals for the youth team this season, put pen to paper on a two-year deal (with the option of a third year) at Greenhous Meadow on Thursday afternoon.

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce that second-year scholar Ethan Jones has signed his first professional contract with the Club.
