Junior Brown On Port Vale Clash

30 October 2015

Midfielder Believes There Will Be Spice In The Derby

The 2-0 win over Bury ended Town’s run of two straight defeats, and Brown said that it has given the squad a huge lift ahead of the trip to Vale Park.

"With it being a local derby, there’s going to be a bit of spice to the game,” said Brown.

“The fans are going to be right up for it, but building on what we did at the weekend, I think we’re in a good place, the players have worked hard all week so we’ll take that confidence that we’ve built over the week into the game and we’ll go there looking to get three points."

“In local derbies it gives a little bit more edge, the lads want to work that little bit harder because it’s always that little bit tastier.

“You try and give a little bit more because of the spice that’s added to the game, but I think we have to be realistic about things, although it’s a derby its another game, another chance to get three points.

“We have to go there with the right mind set and come out on top.”

Town take on their rivals in Sky Bet League 1 (3pm kick off) at Vale Park this weekend, and Brown wants to build on last Saturday's 2-0 win over Bury.

Midfielder Junior Brown insists Shrewsbury Town are confident of taking all three points from a 'spicy' derby at Port Vale on Saturday. “I think its massive, we’ve been working ever so hard over the past few weeks and things haven’t quite gone for us so to finally get that monkey off our shoulder and get the result we deserved I think, it’s a massive thing for us," he said.

“As I’ve said we’ve worked hard all week, and we’ll go into Saturday full of confidence, and aiming for the three points.”
