Look Ahead To The Match At The Ricoh Arena

If you cant make it to Coventry, you can keep up to date with what's going on by coming back to Shrewsweb during the game.

COYB!!!

Coventry City 2-3 Shrewsbury Town.

Of course this game could well be the most difficult away game of the season so far, Coventry are currently making short work of visitors so they're likely to quite confident. But we should be equally confident, we've played some of our best football in away games and dominated some good teams, but we may just need to up our concentration a little to give Coventry a good game.

You would think that after an away defeat I would feel less confident about our prospects against Coventry this weekend but our performance in the last 75 minutes at Rochdale showed that we can still cut it despite defeat. We are probably going to have to improve things in the first 15 minutes of course but I'm thinking of that as a blip rather than an omen of further away game troubles.

Prediction

Town back injury duo Jermaine Grandison and Jayson Leutwiler are fit again but may have to win their places in the team back.

Coventry keeper Lee Burge is a doubt after a stomach bug.

Referee

The Sky Blues have won at home by a margin of two goals once and by a margin of one goal twice.

They have also scored in every one of their home games this season and based on home record alone, Coventry would be in second place in League One.

Coventry have conceded four times at home in the league this season and have kept two clean sheets.

Stats

On loan Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong is a young player with a great future in the game if his start to this season is any sort of indication. The 18 year-old striker had an amazing start to the season, scoring five times in his first three games although in the subsequent five games he has scored just the once. He seems to make a habit of hitting the ground running, he also scored  five times in his first five Professional Development League matches for Newcastle United.

Top Scorer

Coventry City haven't beaten Shrewsbury Town in over fifty years, which is a pretty good record until you find that there have only been four games between us since 1963/4.  The games in 1963/4 were quite different with a 0-0 draw at Gay Meadow and an 8-1 thrashing at Highfield Road, Coventry's highest score against us. Our highest score against the Sky Blues was a 5-0 win at Gay Meadow in December 1956 and our overall record shows ten wins for Shrewsbury and nine for Coventry with nine games ending in draws. Interestingly, we have never played Coventry in either the League Cup, the F.A. Cup or even the Football League Trophy.

Head to head

Form (most recent first)

Coventry have had a pretty good start to the season winning three and drawing one of their league games at home. They are also one of only three teams that have taken points from Burton Albion, beating the Brewers at their Pirelli Stadium home.

Following Shrewsbury Town's brave fightback at 7th-placed Rochdale, we move on to another away game, this time against 7th-placed Coventry City.
