"Last year we made some great strides with engaging girls in Shropshire. This was due to the fantastic support from PE departments for those schools that we worked in, alongside the great work from our coaches whose sessions have been engaging and fun so the girls want to come back week after week.

"Our aim for this year is to engage 550 new participants to the FFD scheme, and we hope that by using our links with Shrewsbury Town Ladies FC and showing the girls the pathway that this will be the case and we can build some players for the future."

"Firstly I would like to thank the Football League Trust for the refunding for a third year. Aiden Wassell, Shrewsbury Town in the Community's health and inclusion officer, said:

Last year Shrewsbury Town In The Community engaged 479 girls, smashing the target of 360 set by Football League Trust.

The aim for the sessions is get Girls to take up football for 10 weeks but more importantly carrying on a sporting habit for life, whether within football or other activity.

The FFD funding looks to engage girls aged 14 and over within after-school clubs, lunch-time clubs and out-of-school hour sessions for a block of 10 weeks.

Shrewsbury Town In The Community are excited to announce the launch of the Female Football Development (FFD) Fund for a third year in a row.
